There is an undeniable power hidden in the fabric of music. It is not prejudiced or biased. It is one of the only mediums that have the ability to join people of all colors, cultures, and geographic locations. It can transform the very spirits and mend the broken hearts of its listeners.
With its inception in February of 2009, the Gospel Music Lounge was birthed out of the vision of David Walker Jr. His love of music, coupled with his thirst to see the lives of others empowered, were the motivational factors in driving him to launch a place where lovers of music will be captivated by the gospel sound. The sound that changes lives, causes the presence of God to be ushered in, creates an atmosphere of freedom, and relaxation.
The Word of God says, "Write the vision and make it plain," and the vision of the Gospel Music Lounge is broadening and taking on new shapes and forms. Currently, the GML as it is popularly called has embarked on transforming its structure into a brand that caters to every facet of music. This means that no longer is the GML simply a place where the gospel sound could be heard, but it is a company dedicated to servicing every musical need. The GML currently has the ability to out source professional and skilled musicians provide consultation for publication designs, and host musical events. With the introduction of the new online community and services, we are fervently dedicated to taking the Gospel Music Lounge around the country, and eventually the global world! It is time that the world "Feels the sound" and the power of God through musical expression.
ABOUT THE FOUNDER
A native of Long Island, New York David Walker Jr. from as young as he can remember has always had a love and passion for music. With musical influences like Fred Hammond, Tye Tribbett, Hezekiah Walker, & John P. Kee, it is no wonder that David's insatiable hunger and thirst to see gospel music reach the world began to take shape and form.
In 2009, David attended an open mic at New York City's Village Underground, popularly known as a haven for music's talented undiscovered singers and musicians. It was then that he received divine revelation from God that inspired him to combine the lounge atmosphere with gospel music. A place where lovers of the gospel sound could gather and experience the power and praise that erupts from this musical genre. In March 2009, The Gospel Music Lounge was born and held its first lounge at Faith Fellowship Christian Center. Often, David recalls the incredible feeling of accomplishment and the rush of excitement when he saw the vision being realized. This prompted the formation of The Gospel Music Lounge LLC, a company designed to be able to take the lounge experience around the country and to the global community.
There has been much evidence that the GML, as it is popularly called, has impacted the lives of people who attend. David loves to say, "We are focused on insuring there will be a "true worship experience," and if you come and leave feeling nothing and getting nothing, then we did not accomplish our mission. But if you encountered Jesus at the GML, our mission was satisfied."
Many will ask what is next for David Walker Jr. and the GML, and the answer is simple; productivity. It is David's hope to maintain a steady and consistent pace that moves forward in the direction that God has for the GML. He will not stop moving until the entire world is impacted, and the vision is expanded to incorporate people of every culture, dialect, and nationality. The experience of worship and praise through music will be carried out in several mediums; live events, design, and production in an attempt to spread the message of Christ.
